Position: Lead Educator

Classification: Perm/Part Time


Johanna Street Early Learning Centre has been a part of the Jimboomba community for 14 years. We have 28 acres (11.3 hectares) of which 10 acres (4 hectares) is dedicated to our Bush Kindy Classroom.

We are looking to employ an enthusiastic, professional, motivated and experienced fully qualified Lead Educator who is not afraid to get dirty in our Bush Kindy Program.  If you are inspired by Reggio Emilia, Steiner or just have a general love for educating children in a natural environment then we could be just what you are looking for.

Job Requirements:

  • Experienced Lead Educator
  • First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis
  • Hold a minimum of a Diploma in Children’s Services
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card) from the Queensland Public Safety Business Agency

  • Ability to interpret curriculum documents
  • Strong knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Framework including National Quality Standards, Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 and Educational and Care Services National Regulations 2011

  • Effective oral and written communication within the workplace
  • Possess highly developed problem-solving, decision-making and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, with parents, colleagues and management to achieve goals
  • Ability to hike 3-5kms without a problem
  • Forest School training or willingness to be trained
  • Willingness to participate in our ongoing training
  • Willingness to work in the outdoors and adhere to the dress code
  • Flexibility to embrace and work with changing weather conditions
  • Reliable transport (we are located in a semi-rural setting)
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift from 6:30am – 6:00pm
